There have been a host of familiar faces added to the new series and according to Deadline, British stars Nina Conti (Her Master’s Voice) and Tom Bennett (Phone Shop) have signed on to play the respective roles of Tom’s Sister and his best friend, with the latest addition being Amy Seimetz (Tiny Furniture), who has been brought in for a recurring role as Ally, an aspiring writer and bookshop employee in Los Angeles whom Tom meets in unusual circumstances. Further names attached to the show include Ed Begley Jr. (Pineapple Express) as Tom’s Uncle Andy, Michael McKean (The Words) as Tom’s father Keith, and Fred Willard (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy) as Andy’s neighbour.
Family Tree will be filmed in an improvisation mockumentary-style of which Guest is a master, having written films such as This is Spinal Tap and For Your Consideration.
The eight-episode series is due to air in the UK on BBC Two when completed.
