Well, it looks like Phase Three will get underway earlier than expected, with Marvel Studios announcing that it has shifted British filmmaker Edgar Wright's long-gestating Ant-Man up from its planned November 6th 2015 release date, with the miniaturised hero now set to hit screens on July 31st 2015.
The release date change moves Ant-Man away from competition against Bond 24, but it also pits it against Warner Bros.' hugely-anticipated Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman, which is set to open in North America on July 17th, 2015.
So far, Ant-Man is the only confirmed movie for Phase Three of the MCU, although Marvel does have three as-yet-unrevealed features set for release in 2016 and 2017. Meanwhile Phase Two is in full swing, with November's Thor: The Dark World joined by Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy next year, followed by The Avengers: Age of Ultron in May 2015.
With Ant-Man now less than two years away, we should finally start to see some movement on casting in the coming months. Who would you like to see taking on the role of Hank Pym? Let us know in the comments below....
