Variety are reporting that Will Beall has been signed to a two script deal with Warner Bros.
Beall penned January's Gangster Squad which received fairly poor reviews from critics and movie goers with a lot of the criticism aimed at Beall's script. He was then signed on to write the upcoming Justice League (which was scheduled for a 2015 release), however it was reported last month that the script was so bad that they decided to shelve the project and see how well Zack Snyder's Man of Steel does when it's released this summer before moving forward with the project. Latino Review said that the Justice League script was "terrible" and "half-baked from the beginning".
However it seems as though he's impressed someone as the WB as the writer is now working on two blind scripts - which gives him a lot of free reign to write about whatever he wants.
Beall first started out his career penning a few episodes of ABC's Castle which starred Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, and was targeted by Universal to pen The Legend of Conan.
Despite the criticisms the writer has received, this is an encouraging move by Warner Bros for putting so much stock into a young writer and giving him a chance.
What do you think about Will Beall as a writer? Has Warner Bros. made a good move?
