It seems like the Barack Obama phenomenon has not only captivated the American people but is also influencing Hollywood with a number of White House related films soon to be released. Olympus Has Fallen - which centres on a White House terrorist attack - is due to be released next year, but that hasn't stopped filmmaker Roland Emmerich (2012, The Day After Tomorrow) from directing his own Presidential action thriller called White House Down.

The new film stars Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) as the U.S. President and Channing Tatum (Magic Mike) as a Secret Service agent who protects him during a terrorist attack on the White House. Via his Twitter account, director Emmerich treated fans to a first look at Jamie Foxx as U.S. President with a behind the scenes image...

The political thriller also co-stars Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight), Jason Clarke (Public Enemies), Richard Jenkins (Burn After Reading), Lance Reddick (Jonah Hex), James Woods (Straw Dogs), Garcelle Beauvais (Flight), and Rachelle Lefevre (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind). James Vanderbilt - whose writing credits include The Amazing Spider-Man and Zodiac - has penned the script for the upcoming film.

White House Down is due to be released on June 28, 2013.
