Shooting has started on the futuristic supernatural thriller Residue. The film marks Alex Garcia's debut on the silver screen, having previously worked on on television with Utopia and Misfits. The leads are Nathalie Tena (Game of Thrones), and Iwan Rheon (Misfits), while the rest of the cast includes Jamie Draven (Badland), Danny Webb (Sherlock Holmes), Brian Ferguson (Taggart), Eleanor Matsuura (Utopia), Franz Drameh (Attack the Block) and Adrian Schiller (Brighton Rock).
The production synopsis for Residue reveals that the film will centre on "renowned photojournalist Jennifer Preston, investigating the aftermath of a freak explosion of unknown origin at the center of her hedonistic city. Known simply as 'the Catastrophe', this shocking tragedy has left behind a festering wound on the city's psyche. A several square mile Quarantine Zone, or QZ, of evacuated buildings and abonded streets. Nobody in nobody out! With unexplained and increasingly bizarre acts of violence happening across the city, Jennifer begins to see strange ephemeral phantoms in her photographs. She soon becomes obsessed with the idea that a paranormal phenomenon has been unleashed. Sounds interesting enough. I'm always glad to see anybody from small beginnings go on to bigger and better things and I'll be keeping an eye on this.
