At the time of writing, Gravity has brought in $235.9 domestically and $261 million overseas. Last month, Gravity broke an October record for the highest grossing live-action feature with $400 million worldwide. With a $100 Million budget this is a huge success for Warner Bros., thanks in no small part tos IMAX and 3D surcharges, as well as repeat viewings.
Gravity delivered more thrills than all the blockbusters came out this year and its earned every penny. If there was ever a reason to buy a 3D television this is it. This and Life of Pi have really shown what 3D can do for storytelling and immersion, and this is one time I'd say that 3D is an absolute necessity.
