With the half-century of the British sci-fi institution Doctor Who fast approaching, the BBC has announced that the forthcoming 50th Anniversary Special is to be titled The Day of the Doctor, and will see current Time Lord Matt Smith making his penultimate appearance before handing things over to Peter Capaldi. Smith set to be joined by two other incarnations of the Doctor in David Tennant and John Hurt, as well as companions Jenna-Louise Coleman and Billie Piper. As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for Doctor Who, the BBC is also set to broadcast the one-off 'making-of' drama An Adventure in Space and Time, which has been written by Mark Gatiss and stars David Bradley (Game of Thrones) as William Hartnell.
