Last week it was announced that Thai martial arts star Tony Jaa (Ong Bak, Warrior King) is set to make his English language debut in Fast & Furious 7, and now Variety is reporting that Kurt Russell (Escape from New York, Death Proof) is in talks with Universal Pictures about joining the cast of the seventh instalment in the blockbuster action franchise. Russell's role is being kept under wraps, but it's said that he'll be portraying a character originally offered to Denzel Washington (Flight, 2 Guns).
Directed by James Wan (The Conjuring), Fast & Furious 7 will see Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris all returning as their respective characters alongside series newcomer Ronda Rousey (The Expendables 3), while Jason Statham (The Transporter, Hummingbird) will follow up his cameo in Fast & Furious 6 as the villain Ian Shaw. The film is set for release on July 11th, 2014.
