SyFy enjoyed an unexpected success last month with Sharknado, and with the made-for-TV monster movie going down a storm on Twitter, the network has been inviting users of the social media site to submit their ideas for the title to the recently-announced sequel. Well, the Twitterverse has spoken, and today the network has revealed that the follow-up will be going by the rather creative name of... Sharknado 2: The Second One.
"Since Twitter played such a huge role in the success of the original movie, we wanted to use that platform to ask our fans to name Sharknado 2," said Thomas Vitale, SyFy's executive vice president of programming and original movies. "This response is another reminder of how Sharknado has become a pop culture phenomenon. We want to thank all our viewers for their wonderful contributions to keeping up the shark-mentum."
Sharknado 2: The Second One will once again be produced by mockbuster specialists The Asylum and is set to shift the action from Los Angeles to New York City. As yet, there's no word on casting, but expect it to feature a load of people you've never heard of, with one or two you've long forgotten about...
