Second trailer and synopsis for Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher released

The new full length trailer for Tom Cruise’s latest movie Jack Reacher has finally been unveiled. The film is based on the novel One Shot by British author Lee Child, which is part of the Jack Reacher series novels, and is directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Academy Award-winning screenwriter of The Usual Suspects. Here's the official synopsis:

"When a gunman takes five lives with six shots, all evidence points to the suspect in custody. On interrogation, the suspect offers up a single note: “Get Jack Reacher!” So begins an extraordinary chase for the truth, pitting Jack Reacher against an unexpected enemy, with a skill for violence and a secret to keep."

The trailer certainly see Cruise in fine “action man” form as the loveable rouge Jack Reacher, kicking down doors and taking names. We even catch a glimpse of him doing his best Liam Neeson impression with a threatening phone call to a thug holding one of his allies captive. Bearing in mind Reacher’s temperament, this role should allow Cruise to embrace a slightly darker, grittier side than what he's used to.

Cruise is joined by a solid supporting cast with acclaimed director Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man) playing the villain alongside the likes of Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard),  Robert Duvall (We Own the Night) and Rosamund Pike (Die Another Day).

Jack Reacher opens on December 21st in North America and arrives in the UK on Boxing Day.
