Disney will follow its upcoming Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel animated special with another cross-over next year, with show creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh announcing at Comic-Con that the characters of the hit Disney Channel show are heading to the Star Wars universe for a special one-hour episode. According to Variety, the special will see Phineas and Ferb's "carefree existence on Star Wars planet Tattooine disturbed when plans to destroy the Death Star unwittingly fall into their hands."
Disney is wasting precious little time in exploiting its ownership of Star Wars, having already announced a Sequel Trilogy beginning with 2015's Star Wars: Episode VII, along with solo spin-off movies, a new animated series entitled Star Wars Rebels, and merchandise pairing characters from the classic space opera with those from The Muppets and Cars.
Production is already underway on the Star Wars episode of Phineas and Ferb, which is set to air on The Disney Channel and Disney XD in 2014, while Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel will receive its world premiere at the D23 Expo next month ahead of its first broadcast on The Disney Channel on August 16th.
