In order to prepare for the next school year where failing grades can mean death for students attending the prestigious Morning Glory Academy, Image Comics will be publishing a fifth trade paperback featuring the Testsstory arc issues #26 to #29 on August 28, 2013. Coinciding with the softcover collection publication will be the release of Morning Glories #30 which commences a new story arc titled Demerits with two issues being published both in September and October.
Along with the return of creators Nick Spencer and Joe Eisma, Morning Glories #31 will include six variant covers by Rodin Esquejo, Joe Eisma, Edwin Huang, Ryan Kelly, Jeff Lemire, Kevin Mellon, Matthew Waite, and Marley Zarcone. And if that is not reading material for you, Morning Glories Volume Two Deluxe Edition hardcover arrives in September 2013 gathering issues #13to #25 as well incorporating sketches, character designs, and cover galleries.
"We've all been amazed and pleasantly surprised by the explosion in new readers we've seen over this last arc — it was important to us to keep that momentum going,” stated writer Spencer. “After the climactic events of Tests, the new arc Demerits is really our opportunity to go back and take a closer look at some of our cast members, and see how all this has impacted their lives. It's a character-driven arc that answers some questions while introducing new mysteries at the same time."
