I'm not quite sure if this is one of the greatest ideas of all-time or one of the worst, but Deadline has revealed that Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) and Robert De Niro (Raging Bull) are to square off against each other in Grudge Match, a film about two retired brawlers who are tempted by a fight promoter to get back in the ring for one last bout.Kevin Hart (Think Like a Man) will play the fight promoter, who presumably faces a grueling fight of his own in order to persuade an athletic commission to license a fight between the two aging boxers (or maybe it's being sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation).
Grudge Match has been scripted by Tim Kelleher (The Arsenio Hall Show) with rewrites from Doug Ellin (Entourage), and is set to be directed by Peter Segal (Get Smart). The project has been in development since 2010 and has now received the green light from Warner Bros., with Billy Gerber (Gran Torino) and Mark Steven Johnson (Daredevil) producing.
