The upcoming comedy series Next Caller has reportedly been terminated by NBC. Next Caller had Dane Cook (Good Luck Chuck, My Best Friend's Girl) in the lead role as a Howard Stern-type satellite radio shock jock forced to partner with a feminist co-host. It was originally picked up for six episodes but it looks none of them will see the light of day.

Four of the six episodes were shot but the network has decided to stop production because the executives were unhappy with the direction of the show. Next Caller was slated for the midseason and co-starred Collette Wolfe (Hot Tub Time Machine) and Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development).

Recently NBC ordered a full season of Go On, their new hit show starring Matthew Perry (Friends) who also plays a radio host. Looks like NBC has more faith in Go On than Next Caller. Dane Cook better hope he can have another successful comedy special to bounce back from this.
