Despite having a host of projects on his slate - including Escape Plan (formerly The Tomb), Sabotage (formerly Ten), Terminator 5, The Expendables 3, Triplets, The Legend of Conan and Unknown Soldier - action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger signed on for his first foray into the zombie genre, with Variety revealing that he's closed a deal with Silver Reel and Lotus Entertainment to star in Maggie.
Based on a Black List script by John Scott 3 (Lovely Monster), Maggie will mark the directorial debut of Henry Hobson and tells the story of a father helping his daughter to come to terms with her transformation into a member of the walking dead during a zombie pandemic. Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz) had previously been linked to the role of the father, while Chloe Grace Moretz (Carrie) was in negotiations to star as Maggie but was unable to fit the project into her schedule.
Maggie is set to begin filming later this year, and will presumably arrive in cinemas some time in 2014.
