It seems we're never far from a 3D re-release these days as the Hollywood studios look to cash in with converted versions of past classics, but next month UK fans will get to see Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 thriller Dial M For Murder as it was originally intended - albeit without the need for those pesky red and blue glasses - as the film receives a limited 3D cinema run.
Based on the stage play by Frederick Knott, Dial M For Murder was Hitchcock's only foray into 3D, and sees Ray Milland's ex-tennis pro Tony Wendice hiring a petty criminal to kill his wife Margot (played by Hitchcock regular Grace Kelly) after discovering that she's been having an affair. Of course, the scheme goes wrong and when Margot kills her assailant in self-defense, Tony is forced to come up with a new plan to cover his tracks.
Here's a trailer for the 3D rerelease, which arrives in UK cinemas from July 26th...
