The Lam Theater at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco will be hosting Image Expo on July 2, 2013. Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson will serve as the keynote speaker as the Berkeley based publisher responsible for The Walking Dead and Saga will be making a series of announcements in regards to upcoming new titles accompanied by interview sessions with top comic book creators.
“Image Comics isn’t just a unique comic book company, it’s a unique entertainment company,” stated Eric Stephenson in a company press release. “Nobody else does what we do, and I welcome every opportunity I get to highlight the benefits of our unprecedented support for new creativity.” Also attending the one day convention will be Mark Millar who will be discussing Jupiter’s Legacy which is his latest endeavour with artist Frank Quitely, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, multiple Eisner Award-nominee Ed Brubake (Fatale), Joe’s Comics proprietor J. Michael Straczynski, Nick Dragotta co-creator and artist for the apocalyptic Western, East of West, and Kurtis J. Wiebe who is having his series Peter Panzerfaust adapted by the BBC as a motion comic and live-action drama.
While attendees have the opportunity to converse with creative minds behind their favourite comic books, five exclusive special editions will be made available which includes Fatale #15, Ghosted #1, Satellite Sam #1, and Sheltered #1 which will also have a black-and-white ashcan version. “Image Comics has a long history of innovation in comics,” remarked Ron Richards, Image’s Director of Business Development, “and now we’re excited to continue that tradition with Image Expo and give fans, retailers and the press a new and different way to interact with Image Comics and our top creators.”
