There was no gambling required down in Las Vegas when it came to the 2013 LIMA Licensing Awards as it named a blockbuster which generated over $1.5 billion in worldwide box office receipts as the Best Film, Television, Celebrity or Entertainment Program of the Year.
“This award is a great honour and confirms the fact that The Avengers’ [2012] complex blend of characters create an exciting brand opportunity across all licensing platforms,” stated Paul Gitter, senior vice president, licensing, Marvel at Disney Consumer Products in a company press release. “This was a banner year for the Marvel team and it’s not even over yet.”
The prestigious event which recognizes creativity and performance in the licensing industry also lauded Marvel Entertainment with the award for Best Character or Toy Brand Licensee for its LEGO Marvel Superheroes collection.
