Having been in various stages of development for over a decade, the long-rumoured fourth entry in the Jurassic Park series finally looked to be on its way to becoming a reality earlier this year, when Universal scheduled the film for a June 2014 release, before appointing director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) to helm the dino-sequel back in March.However, Trevorrow barely had time to warm the director's chair before Universal announced it was placing Jurassic Park IV on hold to enable the studio "to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth instalment in Universal's beloved franchise." At that time, we were given no indication of a potential new release date, but according to Den of Geek Universal are looking towards a summer 2015 release, which would place the film in competition with fellow sequels The Avengers 2, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and Star Wars: Episode VII.
Jurassic Park IV is being executive produced by Steven Spielberg, with Trevorrow reworking a screenplay that's previously passed through the hands of Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), William Monahan (The Departed, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) and Mark Protosevich (Thor, Oldboy).
