As Superman hogs all of the headlines thanks to the imminent arrival of Man of Steel, 20th Century Fox has moved to remind us that there's another superhero movie set to hit screens this summer by releasing an international trailer for The Wolverine, which is packed with brand new - and fairly spoilerish - footage from Hugh Jackman's latest solo X-Men outing. Check it out after the official synopsis:
"Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality."
The Wolverine is directed by James Mangold (Knight and Day) and sees Jackman joined in the cast by newcomers Rila Fukushima as Yukio and Tao Okamoto as Mariko Yashida, along with Will Yun Lee (Total Recall) as Harada (a.k.a. the Silver Samurai), Brian Tee (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) as Noburo Mori, Hiroyuki Sanada (The Last Samurai) as Shingen, Hal Yamanouchi (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou) as Yashida, Svetlana Khodchenkova (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) as Viper and Famke Janssen (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) as Jean Grey.
Update - And if the new trailer isn't enough, here's the first TV spot...
The Wolverine is set for release on July 25th.
