Now all that Xbox One and PS4 stuff is out of the way, we can focus on what’s really important coming out of this year’s E3 – Nintendo games.
Okay, so no one was really paying attention to their press conference and why would they? Their console is already out (and under performing) and we already had an idea of the games they were announcing. So all we were going to see was some footage that would was only going to end up on Youtube a couple of minutes later (and now here).
With that said, let’s dive into what Nintendo had to offer us:
Bayonetta 2 (Wii U)
If the trailer doesn't give you too much of a headache, you'll find what looks to be a pretty standard looking hack and slash game with some impressive graphics (by Wii U standards) as Bayonetta (now with short hair) guns her way through a load of mystical beasts. Two player mode was confirmed later.
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Wii U)
Going 'old skool' has been a habit of Nintendo for the last few years and this year's E3 was no exception. After Donkey Kong Country Returns being so well received, the former foe of Mario is back in a new side scrolling adventure. The video does remind me of Donkey Kong Country on the SNES and it promises some impressive HD graphics. This one looks a lot of fun and it's nice to see Dixie Kong back - we can only hope this means Funky Kong is back too!
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (Wii U)
A remake of the 2002 Gamecube game with brand new HD graphics that, for our money, does't make the game look all that different to how it did 11 years ago. This is one is probably just for the hardcore Zelda fans only or those who didn't get to play it first time round.
Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)
A handheld sequel to the classic A Link to the Past, released for the SNES back in 1992. At least, it was originally slated to be a sequel to it. This new game sees new features to the Zelda world like jumping and turning into a cave painting to blend into the walls. Expect a lot of depth in the game (quite literally) as the game makes good use (from all accounts) of the console's 3D capabilities.
Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)
What Nintendo console would be complete without it's own Mario Kart game? This new entry looks to expand upon Mario Kart 7 by keeping the flying modes but adding in anti-gravity boosts that sees you move around the course F-Zero style. The video also hints that there will be more of an emphasis on multiple routes to complete the course. No new characters to be seen as of yet.
Monolith Soft (Wii U)
Right. So, we didn't really get this one. I guess it's an RPG with mechs and an annoying soundtrack but... yeah. Not a lot of gameplay shown in this video.
New Super Luigi (Wii U)
The Year of Luigi continues in a new game that is basically New Super Mario Bros. but without Mario. It's as simple as that. It's bound to be a lot of fun, but nothing to write home about.
Pokémon X and Y (3DS)
Fans were upset with Pokémon X and Y's departure from 'classic' Pokémon gameplay but this new trailer could just prove them wrong. Not only does it show off the new Fairy type Pokémon but it also gives us a glimpse at Pokémon Amie which looks like a cross between Pokémon and Nintendogs.
Super Smash Bros (Wii U/3DS)
It's been quite some time since we had a new Super Smash Bros. game and this one is looking to offer exactly what we wanted from a new entry. The video only reveals a few of the characters in Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Samus and Pit but also throws in Animal Crossing Villager who displays some pretty wacky moves. But that's not all, an extra bonus video shows that the Blue Bomber himself Mega Man will finally be joining the Smash Bros. world.
The 3DS version also shows off some beautiful looking cel shaded graphics.
Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)
We've been waiting to see what the Wii U Mario game would look like and while it's not exactly the Mario game Wii U owners may have wanted, you can't argue that it doesn't look a lot of fun. New power up is a cat suit that allows Mario to climb walls (and even the flag pole!) in a game that looks like Super Mario 3D Land mixed with Super Mario Bros 2. on the NES.
The Wonderful 101 (Wii U)
Another really odd looking game, The Wonderful 101 is a strategy game of sorts that... we're not sure. But it sort of looks fun?

With Xbox and PS4 stealing the headlines, what do you think of this line-up of Nintendo games?
