It's been a while since we last had an update on Ridley Scott's planned Blade Runner sequel, but now comes word from The Hollywood Reporter that scriptwriter Michael Green is in talks with Alcon Entertainment about coming in to rewrite the screenplay from Hampton Fancher, who was also responsible for penning the original 1982 sci-fi classic.
Green was one of four screenwriters credited on 2011's Ryan Reynolds-headlined DC movie and he has also worked on several other superhero-themed projects, including the television series Smallville and Heroes, the animated movie Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, and Warner Bros.' long-in-development adaptation of The Flash. He has recently completed rewrites on Steven Spielberg's aborted sci-fi Robopocalypse, along with the biblical epic Gods and Kings.
Little is known about Scott's plans for the Blade Runner sequel, save for the fact that it will pick up several years after the first movie, and so far there's been no indication whether Harrison Ford is set to do a Han Solo and reprise the role of Rick Deckard some thirty-plus years after his last outing.
