Fans of Marvel's Armored Avenger have plenty to look forward to next year; along with Robert Downey Jr.'s latest live-action outing in Iron Man 3, Marvel Animation Studios also announced the direct-to-video animated movie Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United last week, and now comes word of a feature length anime, Iron Man: Rise of Technovore, which is set for release in the spring courtesy of Marvel Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan and Madhouse.Directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki (Shigurui) from a story by Brandon Auman (The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Iron Man: Armored Adventures), Iron Man: Rise of Technovore centres on a confrontation between Iron Man and the villainous Ezekiel Stane, who develops new bio-technology that seemingly outclasses the Iron Man armor. After Stane unleashes a terrorist attack and sets Tony up to take the fall, Iron Man must evade S.H.I.E.L.D.’s man hunt and find a way to clear his name. As you can see by the promotional art, Iron Man will also be joined on his latest adventure by War Machine, Hawkeye, Black Widow and The Punisher.
"Marvel is excited to present an all-new Iron Man adventure featuring the high-tech adrenaline he is known for, in the beautifully rendered anime style of our friends at Madhouse," said producer Megan Thomas Bradner in a press release issued today. "We’ll get to see familiar Marvel Super Heroes such as War Machine, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Hawkeye and The Punisher, rendered in anime style for the first time. It’s a can’t miss for any Marvel fan."
Marvel's Head of Television Jeph Loeb is expected to reveal more information about Iron Man: Rise of Technovore during the Marvel TV Presents Panel at the New York Comic Con this coming Saturday, October 13th. Also on the agenda are the upcoming animated shows Marvel's Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., along with future Marvel Knights Animation releases and an update on season two of Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man.
