Found footage has become something of a staple within the horror genre over the past few years, and now audiences are crying out for something more than just one long film using this style. They want anthologies as well, the piecing together of lots of different styles and subject matter all presented in a single film. This was especially the case with 2012's V/H/S, which used the story of a group of criminals having to steal a tape from a house, but unsure as to which one they were meant to acquire, they had to watch a series of shorts, each directed by a different horror director.
Whilst personally I was not a fan of the first instalment, someone has felt that the world needs a sequel, and below is the trailer for this offering, V/H/S/2, which features the directing talents of Simon Barrett (A Horrible Way to Die), Jason Eisner (Hobo with a Shotgun), Gareth Evans (The Raid), Timo Tjahjanto (The ABCs of Death), Greg Hale and Eduardo Sánchez (The Blair Witch Project) and Adam Wingard (You’re Next).
The trailer seems to show that the style is pretty much the same as the first, but hopefully the linking segments and individual films will provide a better finished product than the original.
V/H/S/2 has a release date of June 6th in North America, but there’s no word on a UK release at the moment.
