Marvel has been grabbing the majority of the superhero movie headlines this week as Iron Man 3 launches Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and cameras roll on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. So, in an effort to remind us that Warner Bros. has its own DC movie arriving this summer (should we need any more reminding, that is), the studio has released two new TV spots for Zack Snyder's eagerly-awaited Superman reboot Man of Steel, and you can check them out below...
"In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves."
Man of Steel is based upon a story by David S. Goyer (Batman Begins) and Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises) and sees Henry Cavill (Immortals) taking to the skies as Superman. Also featuring in the cast are Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire) as General Zod, Amy Adams (The Fighter) as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe (Les Miserables) as Jor-El, Kevin Costner (Hatfields & McCoys) as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane (Secretariat) as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne (Contagion) as Perry White, Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons) as Lara Lor-Van and Antje Traue (Pandorum) as Faora. The film is set for release on June 14th.
