Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to join The Avengers 2We've known for quite a while that Joss Whedon plans to expand the roster of Earth's Mightiest Heroes for The Avengers 2, and just last week the writer-director hinted that he was set to introduce a "brother/sister act" into the superhero sequel, sparking talk that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were set to make their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2015.

Well, it's now seemingly been confirmed, with Entertainment Weekly stating that a source has revealed Magneto's offspring will indeed be joining The Avengers 2, quoting Marvel chief Kevin Feige as suggesting "I'm not confirming or denying. The draft could change six months from now."

Despite the fact that 20th Century Fox own the rights to Magneto as part of the X-Men franchise, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are available to both Fox and Marvel Studios. However, Marvel are unable to make any reference to Magneto, or the fact that the characters are mutants, which has has led to speculation online that Marvel could reimagine the characters as members of the Inhumans.

Meanwhile in other potential Avengers 2 news, El Mayimbe of Latino Review is claiming that Marvel are looking at 42 star Chadwick Boseman for the role of Black Panther. If you remember a few weeks back, Morris Chestnut (Kick-Ass 2) revealed that he was under consideration for the King of Wakanda, suggesting that he could appear in The Avengers 2 ahead of a potential Phase Three solo movie. However, considering the fact that El Mayimbe has dropped countless 'scoops' this year which have either been debunked outright or remain unconfirmed, I'd maybe take this one with a rather large pinch of salt for the time being...

The Avengers 2 is currently set for release on May 1st, 2015, and is expected to reunite the likes of Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), while Robert Downey Jr.'s participation is unclear seeing as his contract with Marvel Studios has expired following the release of Iron Man 3.
