As if the impending release of Iron Man 3 hasn't got us excited enough for the launch of Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios has given us a peek at its next superhero offering by releasing the first trailer for November's solo sequel Thor: The Dark World. Check it out below...
"Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all."
Thor: The Dark World sees Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) taking over directing duties from Kenneth Branagh as Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder goes up against two new bad guys in Malekith the Accursed and Algrim the Strong / Kurse, played by G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra stars Christopher Eccleston and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Rene Russo (Frigga), Stellan Skarsgård (Erik Selvig), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Ray Stevenson, (Volstagg) Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Tadanobu Asano (Hogun) and Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis) all return to the cast, while Zachary Levi (Chuck) has replaced Josh Dallas as Fandral.
