Last month HBO Films and the BBC released a short teaser trailer for director Julian Jarrold's (Brideshead Revisited) upcoming TV feature The Girl, which centres on legendary British filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock's obsession with his leading lady Tippi Hedren during the production of the 1963 classic The Birds, and now comes a full length trailer ahead of its television premiere in the States next month.
The Girl stars Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) as Hitchcock alongside Sienna Miller (The Edge of Love, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) as Hedren, with a supporting cast that includes Imelda Staunton (The Awakening) as Alma Hitchcock, along with Penelope Wilton (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Sean Cameron Michael (Invictus) and Candice D’Arcy (Black Butterflies).

"Alfred Hitchcock (Toby Jones) was at the height of his fame and creativity when, in 1962, he chose an unknown fashion model to star in his most ambitious film – The Birds. But as he sculpted Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller) into the perfect Hitchcock blonde of his imagination, he became obsessed with the impossible dream of winning the real woman’s love. His failure arguably destroyed both of their careers."
The Girl is set to premiere on HBO on October 20th and is expected to air in the UK later this year.
