A possible logline for Warner Bros.’ Lobo movie surfaces online

We’ve known for a while that Warner Bros. is planning an adaptation of DC Comics’ alien bounty hunter Lobo courtesy of producer Joel Silver (The Losers, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) and director Brad Peyton (Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island), and now a potential logline for the film has surfaced online courtesy of the industry tracking site ItsOnTheGrid.com:

Lobo, a powerful alien bounty hunter, lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc.

Should the logline prove accurate, the news that Lobo will be set primarily on Earth may prove disappointing to fans, and if so we can only assume the studio has been deterred from another space-set adventure due to the poor box-office performance of last year’s Green Lantern, not to mention the budget that would be required for a VFX heavy offering based upon a character who has little recognition among the general moviegoing public.

A screenplay for Lobo is in the works from Don Payne, whose superhero experience extends to co-writing duties on Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Thor, as well as the romantic comedy My Super Ex-Girlfriend, while, former WWE star Dwayne Johnson (Fast Five, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) has claimed that he’s set to reunite with Journey 2 director Peyton in the lead role. Meanwhile, recent unsubstantiated rumours have also indicated that the studio has considered including the character as part of their proposed Justice League feature.

Despite the fact that there’s been no official announcement from Warner Bros. about the Lobo movie, the project does seem to be building momentum and it’s looking increasingly possible that Lobo could be the next DC Comics offering from Warner Bros. after the release of next year’s Superman reboot Man of Steel.

Would you like to see Lobo as Warner's next comic book offering, or would you prefer the studio to focus its attention on Justice League, or the long-rumoured solo offerings for characters such as Wonder Woman and The Flash? Let us know in the comments below...
