After roasting George Lucas' Star Wars saga with three specials, Seth Green, Matthew Senreich and the Robot Chicken crew now turn their attention to DC Comics' stable of superheroes for the Robot Chicken: DC Comics Special, which airs in the States tonight on Adult Swim and kicks off season six of the Emmy Award-winning animated comedy series.
"DC completely understands this kind of parody — that we're not making fun but celebrating," co-creator Green tells TV Guide. "It also makes DC look supercool. They know their characters are so powerful and indelible that letting us monkey idiots fool around with them is totally OK. DC pretty much let us do our thing. They didn't have many mandates... [DC Chief Creative Officer] Geoff Johns wrote part of the special and was with us whenever he wasn't doing important DC business. We got to set up shop in the DC offices for three weeks in one of their conference rooms, which super-inspired us! We had access to endless amounts of material, including all their encyclopedias. And we went into their big merchandise room and grabbed all the toys right away, of course."
Featuring in the voice cast for the Robot Chicken: DC Comics Special are Seth Green as Batman, Robin and Aquaman, Neil Patrick Harris as Two-Face, Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Megan Fox as Lois Lane, Breckin Meyer as Superman, Alex Borstein as Wonder Woman and Paul Reubens as The Riddler.
To get you in the mood for tonight's show, check out two new clips that have made their way online in the past couple of days, including a riff on Superman II and the Man of Steel's 'amnesia kiss', followed by a short sketch featuring Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern making fun of poor old Aquaman...
