Hustle & Flow director Craig Brewer is set to write and direct Paramount Pictures' forthcoming The Gangster Princess of Beverly Hills, according to Deadline.
The new film is based on a fascinating Rolling Stone article written by Sabrina Rubin Erdely in 2012. The Gangster Princess of Beverly Hills follows the amazing true story of Lisette Lee, a drug mule who faked her way into Hollywood fame and fortune by pretending to be an actress, model and heiress to the Samsung fortune. Brewer, who has directed films such as Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan and most recently helmed the 2011 re-make of Footloose is also writing Warner Bros.' upcoming Tarzan. The director is also concentrating on television and directing the pilot for Fox TV’s Boomerang, which stars Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewifes) and Anthony LaPaglia (Without A Trace) and focuses on the usual, everyday events surrounding a family business - except this family is in the business of executing hits as assassins for the U.S. government.
