Well, I don't think anyone saw this one coming... According to The Hollywood Reporter, Andrew Garfield's wall-crawler could find himself up against another villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with Paul Giamatti (Sideways) said to have entered negotations with Sony to appear as the Rhino in the forthcoming superhero sequel. The Russian supervillain is apparently a dream role for Giamatti, who has previously expressed his desire to portray the near-invulnerable bad guy in an interview with ShowbizSpy in 2011.
In addition to Giamatti, it's also been reported that British actress Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) is in talks with Sony about joining the cast of the Marc Webb-directed sequel for an unspecified role. Assuming the deals go through, the pair will join the returning Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy), Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field), along with Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) as Electro, Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) as Harry Osborn and Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) as Mary Jane Watson.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is gearing up to go into production ahead of a 2014 release.
