Last month, it was rumoured that Sony and director Marc Webb were looking towards the supervillain Electro for the upcoming sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and now those rumours look to have been confirmed as Variety reports that Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx (Ray, Django Unchained) has entered early talks with the studio to portray the electrifying antagonist. Accompanying the news is a tweet from Foxx which reads: "Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well."
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been written by the writing team of Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (Transformers, Star Trek) and Jeff Pink (Alias, Lost), from an original draft by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man). Both Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker / Spider-Man) and Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) have so far been confirmed as reprising their roles from this summer's reboot, while Shailene Woodley (The Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Descendants) has also joined the cast as Mary Jane Watson.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently scheduled for release on April 18th, 2014 in the UK and May 2nd, 2014 in the States.
