Okay, so we all know that video game-to-movie adaptations don't exactly reek of quality, but one effort that came pretty close to bucking the trend was 2006's Silent Hill, and Open Road Films has now released the first trailer for the upcoming sequel Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, which made its way online on Friday via Yahoo! Movies.

Set several years after the original, Revelation is based on Konami's Silent Hill 3 video game, and centres on a new protagonist, teenager Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemens; X-Men Origins: Wolverine). After the disappearance of her father (the returning Sean Bean), Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is and finds herself sucked into the demonic world of Silent Hill, which threatens to trap her forever.

Silent Hill: Revelation is written and directed by Michael J. Bassett (Deathwatch, Solomon Kane) and features a cast that includes Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) and Martin Donovan (Insomnia). Radha Mitchell and Deborah Kara Unger will reprise their roles from the original, while the film also reunites Sean Bean with 'Ned Stark's Bastard', a.k.a. Game of Thrones co-star Kit Harington.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is set for release in North America on October 26th and arrives in the UK on Halloween.
