Last month we heard from Blur Studio co-founder and potential Deadpool director Tim Miller about his work on the prologue for this year's Marvel Studios solo sequel Thor: The Dark World, which sees Thor's grandfather Bor (Tony Curran) battling Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston) and Algrim the Strong (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). Well, now we can get an even better insight into the creation of the epic battle sequence, with Blur Studio posting a VFX breakdown video that shows just exactly how everything was put together. Check it out below, via io9...

"Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's "Thor" and "Marvel's The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all."

Thor: The Dark World is directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) and also stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Rene Russo (Frigga), Stellan Skarsgård (Erik Selvig), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Ray Stevenson, (Volstagg), Zachary Levi (Fandral), Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif) and Tadanobu Asano (Hogun).
