The nominations for the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards are...

Awards season stepped up a gear today as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations for the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards, with Oscar hopefuls 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle leading the motion picture field with seven nods apiece.  

12 Years a Slave will contest the Best Picture, Drama category against Captain Phillips, Gravity, Philomena and Rush, while American Hustle's challengers for Best Picture, Musical or Comedy are Her, Inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska and The Wolf of Wall Street.

On the TV front, HBO led in terms of networks with nine nominations, while Netflix's House of Cards received four nominations, the most for a series, and will contest Best Television Series, Drama against Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife and Masters of Sex.
