Now that they've decided on a title, it seems that casting is kicking off on the upcoming Terminator reboot, now officially known as Terminator: Genesis. According to reports, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby and the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) is in final negotiations for the role of John Connor, the leader of the Resistance.
At this point, it's unknown how big of a role John Connor will have in the reboot, with previous reports suggesting that the film will focus on Sarah Connor, with Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke said to be the front-runner to take over from Linda Hamilton (and fellow GoT star Lena Headey), but still facing some competition from Brie Larson (Short Term 12). Earlier rumours had suggested that Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) was being tapped for John Connor, while Garrett Hedlund (TRON: Legacy), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Taylor Kitsch (John Carter) have been mentioned as potential candidates for Kyle Reese.
Terminator: Genesis is set for release on July 1st 2015, with Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) handling directing duties and Arnold Schwarzenegger reportedly reprising his signature role.
