Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have announced that Tom Cruise is set to return as Jack Reacher for an adaptation of Never Go Back, the latest instalment of Lee Child's bestselling book series.
Despite the controversy surrounding Cruise's casting in last year's Jack Reacher, the Christopher McQuarrie-directed film was a solid success at the box office, pulling in almost $220 million from a $57 million budget. With Cruise set to reunite with McQuarrie on Mission: Impossible 5, Paramount is currently looking for writers for the Jack Reacher sequel, but are hoping to entice McQuarrie back to direct.
In addition to Mission: Impossible 5, Cruise also has the racing drama Go Like Hell on the horizon with Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski, while the trailer for his next film Edge of Tomorrow is due to land tomorrow.
