It might not have matched the success of Iron Man 3, but Marvel's latest Phase Two offering Thor: The Dark World has certainly proven to be another big hit for Disney and Marvel Studios, with the film having officially crossed the $600 million mark at the global box office.Thor: The Dark World is the third Disney movie of the year to reach that figure after Iron Man 3 ($1.215 billion) and Monsters University ($743.5 million), and the Chris Hemsworth-headlined solo sequel has now become the fourth highest-grossing instalment of the MCU, having overtaken Iron Man's haul of $585.2 million from 2008. With the film still on general release and a Japanese opening set for February 1st, you'd have to expect the film to go on to surpass the $623.9 million take of Iron Man 2, leaving the God of Thunder sitting comfortably behind The Avengers and Iron Man 3 as the third-biggest chapter of the blockbuster superhero franchise.
