According to Bleeding Cool's sources, WB is looking at "a series of lower-prominence comic books being turned into relatively lower budget movies." The report goes on to namedrop Suicide Squad as a specific possibility for a $40 million budget, while other movies could fall into the $20 million range and set up a Spring and Fall/Autumn release pattern to expand the universe "and make a decent profit in the process."
If true, it seems that Warner Bros. must still be reluctant to pull the trigger on a series of big budget outings, despite the success of this year's Man of Steel. Of course, they have been burned before when it comes to big budget DC superhero movies (see Green Lantern), although Jonah Hex was made on a pretty low budget ($47 million) and still only managed to scrape back just over a fifth of its costs before marketing.
