The story is about “a straight-arrow Secret Service agent who is assigned to protect America’s worst former president, an alcoholic and womanizing sleazebag who never won a presidential election but was elevated from VP when the president died.” After a posed threat the two most go on a road trip and hi-jinks ensue. Once again this premise sells itself and it seems like this is something that Tom Cruise could finance without any trouble, so it's curious as to why it's taken so long to get started.
One of the things that might have slowed up production is that Tom Cruise seems to be very insistent that Jack Nicholson plays the ex-president, reuniting the two A Few Good Men stars, but at this point all Nicholson has done is read the script. I hope Nicholson decides to come on and let's this be his last project.
