A dark shadow engulfed the world of film criticism earlier this year when the great Roger Ebert sadly passed away. Shortly before his passing, he was working alongside Martin Scorsese and Steve James on a documentary based on his autobiography Life Itself.
Although the film was 90% completed, it was in dire need of post-production and an Indiegogo campaign has now been launched in order to raise $150000 in just 30 days in order for Life Itself to get a 2014 release.
"Everyone, everywhere will have the ability to support the film and participate in its actual premiere," state the Filmmakers. "This is exactly what Roger stood for and exactly what Roger would have wanted: accessibility for all."
As always, there are incentives with contributors granted an early private screening of the film. Ebert must still be celebrated and it would be a great shame if this documentary doesn't get completed.
