To see the resurgence of Hammer in recent years has been joyous of fans of the classic horror studio and, following the box office hits Let Me In and The Woman in Black, they're now readying a new project - a remake of the classic 1957 monster movie The Abominable Snowman.
The Abominable Snowman will almost certainly be a modern take and will find a scientific expedition making an illegal ascent up an unclimbed peak, where they awaken an ancient creature.
Simon Oakes, head of Hammer said "The success of Let Me In and The Woman in Black has showing that there is an appetite for quality horror films so it is exciting to draw on Hammer's unparalleled source material in this genre which can be reimagined and updated for a new audience."
Although not a true classic alongside Frankenstein and Dracula, it will be interesting to see what Hammer can do with this forgotten movie monster.
