Although met with a near-universal shrug of the shoulders, the $90 million dollars this year's home invasion horror The Purge made off a budget of just $3 million has already led to confirmation of a sequel, and it has now been revealed that The Purge 2 will be released on the June 20th 2014.
The Purge centred on Ethan Hawke (Before Midnight) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), who must protect their family from home invader during the annual purge; a 24 hour period whereby all crime is legal. The film had an intriguing premise and idea but executed it terribly, so hopefully the sequel will build upon these ideas and attempt to go somewhere with it.
Writer and director James DeMonaco is set to return for The Purge 2 alongside producers Jason Blum and Michael Bay.
