Thor: The Dark World holds on to top spot at the North American box office
Thor: The Dark World is continuing its domination of the global box office, retaining the number one place in the U.S. with a further $38.4 million, upping its domestic count to $147 million. Although topping the chart on Friday, the sequel that nobody asked for The Best Man Holiday had to settle for second, opening up strong with an impressive $30.5 million.

Last Vegas, one of the surprise box office successes of 2013, climbed up one place to third with a further $8.8 million with Free Bird dropping to fourth with $8.3 million. Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa continues to perform well and pushed past the $100 million mark.

Gravity, which has slipped out of the top five for the first time, earned a further $6.3 million pushing its global gross beyond half a billion dollars. Ender's Game fell to seventh, followed by the harrowing 12 Years a Slave in eighth, Captain Phillips in ninth and About Time in tenth.
