Jake Gyllenhaal needed stitches after shooting an intense scene for his new film, Nightcrawler.Gyllenhaal's spokeswoman says the 32-year-old actor returned to work Thursday for a final day of filming after a few hours in the emergency room. Mara Buxbaum said Gyllenhaal was in character Wednesday when he hit a mirror which broke and cut his hand, which was "badly cut up" and required "numerous stitches".
Nightcrawler is a crime drama which sees Gyllenhaal joined by Rene Russo (Thor: The Dark World) and Bill Paxton (Hatfields & McCoys). Gyllenhaal is said to have lost about 20 pounds for his role as a crime-scene reporter in the film, which is set to be released 2014.
