UK box office top ten and analysis for the weekend of Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd September 2013...

Rush 2013After debuting in second place last week, Ron Howard's Rush has taken pole position at the UK box office in its second weekend, pulling in £1.34 million to give the Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl-headlined F1 biopic a solid £4.67 million to date. Rush swapped places with last week's top film Insidious: Chapter 2, the James Wan-directed horror falling to second with £1.1 million, while White House Down and About Time were unchanged in third and fourth.

Down in fifth is the first new entry of the weekend, with director Oliver Hirschbiegel's biopic Diana opening to a rather soft £623,051, no doubt due in part to the horrendous reviews for the film, which sees Naomi Watts as the People's Princess. The supernatural action-comedy R.I.P.D. followed in seventh with £506,521, while the only other new arrival to crack the top ten was the Halle Berry thriller The Call, which claimed eighth with £409,975.
