Much like the whole Robert Downey Jr. contract situation, there has been some talk this year that Chris Hemsworth was yet to reach a deal with Marvel Studios about returning as the God of Thunder after November's Thor: The Dark World, but anyone concerned that Thor could be absent when Earth's Mightiest Heroes reassemble for The Avengers: Age of Ultron can now breathe easy.
When asked by EOnline if he is set to return for Snow White and the Huntsman 2, Hemsworth revealed that he could have scheduling difficulties due to his involvement with the hotly-anticipated Avengers sequel: "I had a great time making [Snow White and the Huntsman]. I'm not sure what they plan on doing. I'm kind of booked up in Avengers 2, we do Avengers next year and that kind of takes up most of the year. And then press for Thor 2 this year and it just depends when we can squeeze it in. It's getting kind of narrower and narrower."
Meanwhile, speaking to MTV, Hemsworth offered some praise for new cast addition James Spader, who is set to portray the AI villain Ultron: "He's great, he's awesome. I haven't met him yet, but it's funny [because] the whole Avengers thing is starting to come up in conversations and I'm like, 'God, I still have another film to shoot [and] Thor 2 hasn't even come out yet.' The script [for The Avengers: Age of Ultron] isn't even done yet, but I know Joss Whedon is [writing away]."
The Avengers: Age of Ultron will see Hemsworth once again lining up alongside Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) while Godzilla stars Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass 2) are tipped to join the cast as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. But before then Hemsworth will be back on our screens alongside the likes of Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Anthony Hopkins (Odin) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) in Thor: The Dark World, which opens in the UK on October 30th and in North America on November 8th.
