According to Variety, Game of Thrones and Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor has entered negotiations with Paramount Pictures about coming on board the Terminator reboot. Taylor is said to have topped a shortlist which included Rian Johnson (Looper) and Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners), with the studio having failed to reach a deal with its first choice in Life of Pi helmer Ang Lee.
Terminator has been penned by Laeta Kalorgridis (Avatar) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) and is said to be the first in a new trilogy of films, to be produced by Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty, Spring Breakers) and David Ellison (Star Trek Into Darkness, World War Z). Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to feature in some capacity, while Dwayne Johnson (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Fast & Furious 6) has been tipped to take on the role of the Terminator.
Terminator is set for release on June 26th, 2015.
