From the moment it was announced that Matthew Vaughn's next X-Men project would adapt that classic comic book story arc Days of Future Past, there's been a tonne of speculation surrounding the possibility of Vaughn merging his X-Men: First Class cast with members of the earlier X-Men movies. We've already had Patrick Stewart and Famke Janssen teasing the possibility of reprising their roles as Professor X and Jean Grey for X-Men: Days of Future Past, and now - if rumours are to be believed - Fox may be preparing the ground work for an X-Men crossover with next year's solo movie The Wolverine.If the report proves accurate and Jean Grey does make an appearance in The Wolverine, it's sure to further muddy the continuity of Fox's X-Men franchise, with the two characters seemingly meeting for the first time in Bryan Singer's 2000 original. Of course, if previous X-Men films are anything to go by, franchise continuity doesn't seem to be high on Fox's list of priorities anyway and it wouldn't be too much of a surprise to see Vaughn delivering a Star Trek-style wipe-the-slate-clean / alternative-timeline scenario with Days of Future Past.
